Practicing God's Presence Assures His Protection
Scripture Reading
Psalm 16:7–8 (KJV) "I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved."
Revelation 3:10 (KJV) "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth."
1. Daily Submission Prepares the Soul
The core of who we are, our thoughts, desires, and decisions must be fully surrendered to and governed by the Lord. During our waking hours, we must intentionally position ourselves to receive God's counsel through His Word and by listening to Holy Spirit. Psalm 16 suggests that when we discipline our hearts to yield to divine instruction in the morning and throughout the day, our inner man remains anchored in the truth by night allowing God’s Spirit to continually cleanse, refresh, and reset our souls.
2. Intentional Focus Creates Unshakable Stability
Setting the Lord continually before us is not passive; it is a conscious spiritual practice and discipline. When we condition ourselves to live in obedience to God's counsel, He takes His place at our right hand as our steady Defender. Therefore, no shifting culture, unexpected calamity, or intense life pressure has the power to dislodge us from our faith. In other words, alignment with God keeps us firmly rooted and completely immovable. We sang about God’s firm foundation on Sunday: “…I built my life on Jesus; He’s never let me down…He won’t…”
3. Faithful Endurance Secures Divine Protection
In Revelation, Jesus commends believers who persevere under pressure and remain steadfast in His Word. As we yield to God's refining work and hold fast to His truth, our confidence matures into an unyielding resolve. God sees and commends our patient endurance, and He promises that although judgment and collapse will be the end of this world's systems, His faithful people are divinely kept and sheltered both now and forever! Here is a final thought from our scriptures today: God holds those who hold fast to Him.
