Keep Going: Pressing Toward the Mark
"Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
— Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV)
There are seasons in life when the finish line seems farther away than when we first began. The excitement of a new year, a fresh vision, or a new assignment can slowly give way to fatigue, distractions, disappointments, or unexpected detours. Yet Paul's words remind us that our walk with God is not about standing still, it is about continually pressing forward.
To "press" means to move with purpose despite resistance. It is the determination to keep walking when the journey is difficult. To press means to keep believing when answers seem delayed, and to keep serving even when no one is watching or applauding. Our confidence is not in our own strength but in the One who walks with us every step of the way.
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to remain consistent in our faith, steadfast in our calling, and confident in God's promises. Every time we are obedient, every time we pray in faith, every ministry opportunity taken matters. God honors our perseverance, and He completes the work He begins in us.
I know that it is sometimes overwhelming, but whatever you may be facing, don't allow yesterday's pauses or today's challenges to determine tomorrow's faithfulness. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Strengthen your heart. God is not finished with you. The prize is still ahead, and His grace is sufficient for the journey.
As Paul reminds us, "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord..." (1 Corinthians 15:58).
Keep going. Keep growing. Keep trusting. Keep pressing.

- Leave the past behind. Don't allow past mistakes, disappointments, or even yesterday's victories to keep you from what God is doing today. Every new day is a "new mercy moment" to move forward in faith.
- Stay consistent and committed. Faithfulness is often built through small, daily acts of obedience. Keep praying, keep serving, keep loving, and keep trusting God even when progress feels slow.
- Focus on the end goal, not the pressure. Life will present obstacles, but don't lose sight of God's purpose for your life. Keep your eyes fixed on Christ, knowing that your labor in Him is never in vain.
As Paul reminds us, "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord..." (1 Corinthians 15:58).
